About The Artist
Natalia Martiou (Natalia Kiourtzidou), is an oil painter based in Greece whose work captures the poetry of everyday life.
Her paintings are not just places, but experiences – moments suspended in time, filled with light, warmth, and emotion. Inspired by Mediterranean streets, seaside villages, cozy cafés, and quiet seasonal scenes, she creates worlds that feel both dreamlike and deeply familiar. Some invite you in with a sense of wonder “I wish I were there”, while others feel like memories softly returning “I remember this.”
Working in a richly textured, impressionistic style, Natalia uses vibrant, expressive color and thick, tactile brushstrokes to bring each scene to life. Light plays a central role in her work golden reflections on water, glowing shop windows, sunlit facades, and soft winter evenings all carefully composed to evoke a specific feeling rather than simply depict a place.
A distinctive element of her paintings is the presence of small, lively figures people walking, children playing, quiet moments unfolding. These subtle details transform each piece into a story, capturing the beauty of simple, fleeting moments that often go unnoticed.
From an early age, Natalia was drawn to drawing and visual expression, constantly sketching and exploring creativity. Her artistic journey led her through fashion design and styling, where her attention to detail and texture began to shape her visual language. Over time, she returned to painting, where she found the most natural and expressive form of her creativity.
Today, her work exists between reality and imagination enhanced, romanticized, and full of life. Each painting is an invitation: to pause, to feel, and to step into a world where color, light, and emotion come together in harmony.
